SUDDENLY 2002 > Mixed Media Installation with Sound
Suddenly is an installation of popcorn clouds, a burst of unexpected recognition, by Jennifer Schmidt. The project Space becomes a brainstorm of forms, not unlike kernels of corn that have burst in the dry heat of summer. By placing popcorn kernels in a repetitive pattern, Schmidt traces and mimics the otherwise banal decoration of vinyl kitchen floor tiles to create a fantastic interior environment-- activated by the viewer’s imagination and the sounds of popping corn cooking in a microwave oven.
