Letters to the Sun   2010

Heliography, Poetry and Performance

During an afternoon in Alaska at the Homestead artist residency, Jennifer wrote and beamed haiku poems to the sun using a found car side-mirror, sunlight, morse code, and found work station (built by Garett Yahn).

Letters let thoughts breathe
The sun reflecting light moves
Toward and through

Clouds move with the light
Letters bounce the sun once twice
Moving cranes across

Diagonal moves
Informs cranes across the bog
I sit and watch curious

Small trees brush and moss
Soil breathes air quietly
July insects hum
